In December of 1989, I purchased a Vermont Castings large Model 1280 Winter Warm Fireplace insert. It has served me well for more than two decades. A few days ago, I built a fire to take the chill out of the house. I have a vermont castings difiant model that burns wood and I just want to tell who ever is looking for warmth and does not mind to load wood in and out of the house, then this is the way to go. My home is over 3000 square feet and the house is always 80 degrees. The only problems I ran into where the people who installed it. I went thru three corporations until I figured out that most people who sell the stoves do not know how to install them, do your own homework. More...

I can actually heat my entire house with this stove. The outside temps have been as low as 15 degrees here in Pennsylvania. It is easy to keep the fire going. The burn times per the manufacturer are up... More...
