  • Vermont castings dutchwest catalytic combustor

Paid for an overpriced part. $131.00 But, it was the coldest Feb on record in our area and we heat with wood. So we needed the part. Two weeks later it arrived. a month later and the part, literally fell apart in our stove. So we call them up to get a replacement part. (it hasn't even been 30 days) They said did you fill out the warranty card. I said it was a part in a box. there was no warranty card. The response was. We do nothing without that. WOW... customer service sucks. A part that is less than 30 days old should not fall apart in the wood stove causing the smoke to billow out... More...

  • stove does not draw enough air

Vermont Casting Encore FlexBurn Wood Burning Stove...complaints fall on deaf ears..I can not find a phone number.. Once the ash box is open it flames up, close the ash box and the flame dies. What does that tell you, NOT ENOUGH AIR. It's either a malfunction in this stove or poor engineering. It's NOT wet wood or a flue pipe problem! It takes hours to get the house warm. It would be nice if Vermont Castings would contact me to fix the problem! Technical Questions (Thread:2938545) More...

  • Winter Warm - Wood Insert

I just purchased a home which happen to have a WinterWarm fireplace by Vermont Casting. I recently tried the fireplace, after reading the manual, and was very disappointed by the amount of heat produced by the fireplace. The manual suggested that it could heat an 1500 sq ft area, but this does not seem to be the case. It was barely able to heat a 15 by 12 ft room. Am I alone in this experience ? I had the chimney cleaned BEFORE using the fireplace. I have tried to resolve the problem, by contacting several authorized dealers as specified by the Vermont Casting website. This has proved... • Merrimack model insert- fan is useless and stove is awful

I wish I never bought this insert. I am pulling it out in a couple weeks and replacing it with a Woodstock Soapstone Progress Hybrid. I had it installed last fall brand new. The fan thermostat died within the first couple weeks and the fan wouldn't go on when the stove heated up. The service guy bypassed some wires so the fan would run (manually). The result, the fan now blows full throttle hours after the stove is out. The biggest problem with the fan, it it rattles all the time. I constantly have to change the dial to find a RPM that rattles less. It is so bad, that we often can... More...

  • Warranty is Meaningless

Purchased my Vermont Castings grill (VCS4007N) back in 2007. Am currently needing some parts replaced (firebox, tube burners) all within the original 10 year warranty period. Because of a change in ownership, the new owners are not honouring Vermont Castings warranties from prior to 2008. Yet on their website they talk about their 35-year history of quality. That's garbage%u2026you can't have it both ways. Either you are an 'old' company with a history and you honour your warranty, or you are a new company with only a very short history. I can't trust or... More...

  • Vermont Castings Grills broken and burned out

Vermont castings grills. Bought mine about 5 years ago and have had nothing but problems from day one. Temperature gauge went out, ignitator also went out and now the firebox and burners are completely gone. No local dealer or repair support to help. I do not think the local dealer in Lubbock either cares about your business or knows his product. Would never buy a new one or recommend one to friends. Having TI buy a new one, but problem now is mine is a built in and sizes have changed and it is going to be expensive to change. DO NOT buy a Vermont Castings product of any kind!!!!!!!!!! More...

  • Price gouge for parts?

We have two Reliance, propane stoves which have worked great since 2003 & 2008 but we now have a problem with the 2003 stove, Model RNVOD. The part number #51866 is a 300 degree ceramic switch. We have had authorized technical support/ repair people look at the stove. They have found parts that perform the same function for Vermont Stoves, at other distributors, but not the correct size. All of the parts are about $18 except for the one we need, which only comes from Vermont Castings for $160 - is this price gouging? Service people have told us they are embarrassed by the situation... More...

  • Poor performance and dependability

I am writing about my Vermont Casting Winter Warm Small Insert, Model 2080, which I purchased on November 6, 2008, from Higgins Energy Company in Barre, MA. I am totally disappointed in the performance and dependability of this stove. In my view, this not the fault of the dealer, but is an issue with the manufacturer and clams surrounding the unit. This stove has not performed according to your claims. Your website states that this stove will heat 1000 square feet and had long overnight burn times. This has not been my experience. I find that this stove will not hold a fire for more... More...

  • Woodstove

My girlfriend purchased a $1,600 stove med size woodstove. It didn't make it one winter and the flue assembly crumbled. When openning the stove properly to load wood there's a back blast of flames and heat that reach the ceiling. The service techs looked at the stove and said they would be to fix the problem. They haven't been since or called. I guess they don't back Vt Castings. We spent good money on what we thought was a good product. Now we realize that Vt Castings can't back up there own product. We were duped and have 500 lbs of useless cast iron in our house.... More...
